By addressing the inherent instability of conventional scaffolding or ladders on uneven steps, this purpose-built aluminium tower provides a level, stable, and spacious working platform, significantly enhancing safety and productivity in challenging indoor environments.

The Stairwell-Pro tower is designed and manufactured with the same high-quality aluminium extrusions and processes as other robust Alto towers, ensuring durability, strength, and ease of assembly.

Features

• Designed Specifically for Stairwells:
  • Features unique Stairwell Frame Foot Assemblies and adjustable legs/castors that allow the tower to be erected safely and securely on varying step heights and gradients of a staircase.
  • The base components are designed to "straddle" the steps, providing a stable footprint.
• Unique Walk-Through Base Frames:
  • One of the standout features is the walk-through base frame design. This allows for uninterrupted access up and down the staircase even while the tower is erected, which is critical for maintaining emergency exit routes and improving site logistics (allowing movement of other trades or materials).
  • Access to the first platform is typically gained via a clip-on ladder.
• Robust Aluminium Construction:
  • Manufactured from 2mm thick, 48mm diameter aluminium tube. This heavy-duty construction makes it significantly more resistant to denting and crushing than lighter-weight towers, ensuring longevity and safety.
  • The 48mm tube diameter is compatible with standard scaffold tube and fittings, making tying-in to structures or incorporating adaptations straightforward.
  • Fully welded joints enhance structural rigidity and eliminate potential weak points, increasing overall strength.
• Compliance and Safety:
  • Manufactured in an ISO 9001 accredited facility.
  • Complies with relevant European and British standards for mobile access towers, typically BS EN 1004-2:2021 (for instruction manuals) and often BS 1139-6:2022 (for specific applications like stairwells).
  • Utilizes the 3T (Through The Trapdoor) assembly method. This safe erection method involves the operative building the guardrails from the platform below, ensuring they never stand on an unguarded platform.
  • Comes with ground-level stabilisers as standard, which can be angled and positioned to suit varying staircase configurations. Stub stabilisers are available for bracing off adjacent walls in taller or more complex setups.
  • Maximum safe working load of an individual platform is typically 130-150 kg (evenly distributed). The overall safe working load of the tower (including its self-weight) can be up to 750 kg (for MD versions) or 1000kg+ for Pro/Heavy Duty versions.
• Non-Jamming Head Fittings:
  • Features unique conical head fittings on the frames. These prevent frames from jamming during dismantling, eliminating the need for hammering and preventing damage. They also automatically lock frames together during assembly, removing the need for flimsy spring clips.
• Adjustable Platform Heights:
  • Modular design allows for various platform heights, accommodating different ceiling heights and staircase configurations. Working heights can range from low levels (e.g., 2.5m) up to 6m freestanding, or even higher when tied into a rigid structure.
• Easy Assembly and Portability:
  • Components are designed for simple and quick assembly and dismantling.
  • Relatively lightweight for an industrial-grade tower due to its aluminium construction, making transport and setup more manageable than steel alternatives.
